Lets face it we are not all a size two. But todays runways are full of them! So are magazines, TV commercials, etc., etc. Truth be told, though, we may never be a size two ever again (and some of use never were to begin with).
If that is you, then Blazin the Runway A Curvy Experience Presented by Sizerevolution is the event for you. The event, happening on June 4 at 7 p.m. at the Hilton, features clothing by the hottest plus size designers and will be hosted by Tionnia Smalls of VH1's What Chilli Wants and specials guest DJ Yasmin Young.
If you are interested in attending Blazin the Runway A Curvy a Experience, you can buy tickets here.

Whenever I watch my boyfriend get dressed, whether for work or for a date with me, I'm struck with how men are just as concerned with their looks as women are. In fact, last weekend when we had plans to go see The Hangover 2, he changed his outfit twice because he wanted to make sure he gave off the "right vibe" on our date. What that means, I'll never really know.
But that just goes to show you how important fashion is. Men and women alike are first perceived by their looks, and wearing an outfit that flatters definitely builds confidence.
On Saturday, June 4, Macy's at Northlake is celebrating dads with a spring 2011 men's fashion show, hosted by our very own T. Strong. In addition to the handsome looks guaranteed to be showcased on the runway, men can consult with the fashion experts of My 1st Suit a "non-profit organization founded to help young men in need build character and confidence through special programming and the donation of their first suit" and DW Designs.
And ladies, if you find something for the dad in your life at Macy's and spend more than $50, you'll receive as a free gift a Macy's men's watch (while supplies last).
WHERE: Macys at Northlake Mall : Second Level Mens Department. 6845 Northlake Mall Drive.
WHEN: Saturday, June 4. 2 p.m.
On Sunday, the Charlotte Observer posted a story on their site about the recent string of break-ins at locally owned boutiques. When the story had been published, five stores had been burglarized: Sloan, IC London, Monkee's, Black & Blue, and Fresh.
In fact, Sunday morning, after the story had gone to press, Emily Haggart, the owner of Fresh, posted on their Facebook that the store had been hit again.
Sadly, this morning I woke up to discover another locally owned shop had been broken into. And not far from my own home.
Vivian B, a boutique that opened up NoDa last year, was the latest spot to be targeted by the "smash and grab" hoodlums. Glass glittered the sidewalk and the shop was eerily empty of merchandise. Two police officers were investigating the scene when I drove by.
The loss these local owners face amount to thousands of dollars, and it's just so disheartening. It's not like these criminals are stealing from Walmart or Target, where owners don't feel the pinch of such circumstances. The people who own these shops are just like you and me: average people just trying to make a living for themselves.
I have to tip my imaginary hat to the store owners, though, who, despite dealing with such ugliness, are maintaining positive attitudes through their respective ordeals. The world needs more of you folks.
Here's hoping that whoever's breaking into these locally owned shops gets caught soon.
