Toward the end of July and early August, stores start to put more items on their summer clearance sales rack. Handpicked, a jewelry store with locations all over North and South Carolina (and even in my hometown in Georgia), is offering a sale on July 30 that you don't want to miss — especially if you're a lover of the sparkling.
Tomorrow only, take an extra 50 percent off all summer clearance items.
As I scroll through their website, I'm dying on the inside, trying so hard not to whip out my credit card.
For an idea of what kinds of pieces they offer, here's a black diamond necklace that I would love for a handsome gentleman to purchase for me.

As the wave of vegan lovers starts to spread throughout the city, it only makes since to have a bigger selection of vegan-welcoming locations. Places like the Common Market, Luna’s Living Kitchen, The Diamond and ZiZi’s Vegetarian Restaurant offer vegetarian and vegan options that people are going bananas for, but what about a store with other things besides food?
Just recently a vegan one-stop-shop opened in the neighborhood of Plaza Midwood called Eco-licious. “We are an environmentally friendly, cruelty-free store with all locally made products,” says storeowner Marley Claridge.
Is it time to say goodbye to summer yet? It's just so hot outside ...
Well, even though we've still got a few more months of the heat and humidity (internal groan), Paper Skyscraper is hosting an Aloha Summer Sale this weekend to clear up space for new fall items. Here's the flyer I got in my e-mail this morning.
Paper Skyscraper is located at 330 East Blvd.
Sales are a girl's best friend, and we can never get enough of them even if that does mean eating Ramen Noodles every day for lunch and dinner.
So you'll be glad to know that Sloan Boutique is having a whopper jewelry sale right now.
Continuing through Saturday, July 23, they are giving you a 50 percent off select jewelry sale and I don't mean the kind of sale where it may be a couple things here and there. Take a gander at the picture and you will see exactly what I mean by WHOPPER sale!
(Photo taken from Sloan Boutique Facebook page.)
Earrings, bracelets and necklaces are all items you will find on the shelves. Jewelry in all different styles, shapes, sizes, colors and oh yea shininess will blind you into excitement and maybe even a spending frenzy.
Only one more day of the sale, so hurry on in and grab it while it's hot!

Takeover Friday takes over a recently opened furniture store in South End, and if you're into home decor and good people, this is where you want to be tonight.
High Cotton Home Co. is hosting Takeover Friday, the traveling party mixer, for anyone who wants to come mingle and see some really nice furniture and accessories. (Curious to find out what kinds of things they offer? Check out interior decorator Emily Clark's blog from a recent meet-up hosted at High Cotton a few weeks ago.)
But just because you're going to be surrounded by all this fabulous furniture and home decor, don't feel pressured into spending all the money you've got. Remember, it's a catered party with cocktails that just happens to be in a furniture store. Patrons, friends, co-workers and future business partners of High Cotton Home Co. will all be there mixing it up and meeting each other.
But on the other hand, there will be some hard-to-refuse discounts. Tonight only will you be able to get 20 percent off all accessories and 10 percent off all furniture you see on the floor.
Get there between 7 and 8 p.m. and your first drink is on the house. After that, it's a cash-only bar.
The party goes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

2137 South Blvd.
If you haven't picked up this week's issue of Creative Loafing what are you waiting for?
Yes! Finally! Creative Loafing is covering shopping, fashion, home decor and more on a weekly basis in print!
It's been a long time coming, but finally, ladies, here's a section you'll want to immediately flip to each week when you pick up the paper.
This week's issue features a story highlighting three local designers who are making big splashes in the worlds of jewelry, interior design and fashion: Laura James of Laura James Jewelry; Emily Clark of Emily A. Clark Interiors; and Tara Davis, with Flow By Tara Davis. Read it here.
Next up, we've launched a new Style Stalker column, where our writers seek out the stylish in the crowds of Charlotte. Davita Dalloway (pictured on the cover) was spotted at Amelie's, and she gives us a play-by-play of her outfit. Read it here.
We've also started another new column, focusing on home decor, called Creative Living. In this weekly space, we'll interview people around Charlotte who have really taken an interest in their home decor, whether it be funky and fresh or traditional and DIY. I interview my good friend Chad McClure, whose love of one-of-a-kind items provoked him to commission a piece of work by local artist Kelly Keith. See the photo of a man's tors0 the painting, not the guy here.
And finally, we've transitioned some of what we do here on Klepto, this fabulous blog you're currently reading, to print, with the addition of highlighting an "Item of the Week." Laura James so thoughtfully allowed us to show off one of her leather-wrap charm bracelets, perfect for summertime. Check it out here.
If you can't tell, I'm pretty excited about our new weekly section. So of course, if you have any questions, comments or ideas you'd like to share or know of someone with the perfect living space to feature in Creative Living drop me a line at kimberly.lawson@creativeloafing.com.
Charlotte has so many hidden little gems and boutiques that I love to frequent, and The Dressing Room just happens to be one of the them. Owners Angella and Natalie opened their boutique a little less than six months ago and have been going strong ever since. Located near the heart of uptown Charlotte, this boutique carries designs by Better B, Alice + Olivia, Black and many more. I really think rompers and jumpers is one of their specialties because I've seen some of the hottest, styles and color patterns hanging there. They also have an assortment of party dresses, tops, skirts and fashion shorts to choose from.
Oh and don't forget the jewelry. This boutique always has the perfect accessories to match your look.
Want to get a peek at what I've already seen? The Dressing Room is having a fashion show on Sunday, July 24 at 5 p.m. The show will take place inside the store located at 820 E. 7th St. For more details or to RSVP for the show, call 704-817-9035.

Last night I attended Sole to Soul, the fashion networking event that took place at the Gantt Center.
As I tweeted last night, there was way too much cuteness going on. The ladies definitely brought their A game in the shoe department. But only one person could be picked to be rocking the hottest pair, and that was this chick here. A simple photo wouldn't have done these heels justice how else would you have seen that they actually light up?
As awesome as they were, I couldn't help thinking this would probably be the ONLY type of event I'd feel comfortable wearing these shoes at. I mean, what if I'm out at the club and someone spills a drink on my foot, short-circuiting the power that lights these babies up? Can you imagine walking around with only one shoe lighting up? Too embarrassing.
Today is a fabulous day for a sale. Dot sales are always my favorite because there's something for every budget, and if you've ever visited Lotus boutique (1111 Metropolitan Ave., Suite 140), you know that there is an assortment of chic "must-have" items. Here's your opportunity to snatch up a few great new looks. I'm talking 1o to 75 percent off on all the summer dresses, tops and skirts. I personally have had my eye on a couple of things to help me work my curves, and since the sale starts today, I need to make a beeline there for a new pair of sexy heels.
The owner of Lotus, Effie Loukas, has a great eye for fashion and brings in unique, wearable items that could be conversation pieces in any given situation. Everything from jewelry and clothing to shoes and other accessories, Lotus is the perfect place to splurge. They're clearing out to make room for the fabulous fall collection that will be coming in very soon. But hey, it's still 100 degrees in Charlotte, so why not stock up on lots of looks you can wear right now?
