A recent copy of All Star Batman & Robin The Boy Wonder by Frank Miller (he of Sin City fame) was pulled from comic book shelves for being too dirty. The cuss words in the book were too much for some to handle. DC Comics tried to censor the language with black bars, but the words could still be seen.
"Due to a series of printing errors," DC warned retailers and trade press, "ACTION COMICS # 869, ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN THE BOY WONDER # 10 and DCU DECISIONS #1 will not be going on sale this coming Wednesday, as previously scheduled. DC Comics is working to get the books reprinted and into stores as soon as possible."
Which is a shame, because the language adds a certain element of realism to the gritty crime story. Besides, Batgirl screaming, "Sell your poison someplace else. This here arcade belongs to the fucking Batgirl"? Awesome. And also my new catch phrase.
Further example of the censorship after the jump...
