Check out these events going down in Charlotte and the surrounding area this weekend— as selected by the folks at Creative Loafing.

Fri., March 27

Music: Prepare for a blast from the past from Abbey Road LIVE! plays at Visulite Theatre. The group will play a wide range of Beatles material, including hits and rarely heard songs from all eras of the famous group’s lengthy catalog history.

Special Event: Melt down to the dance floor with industrial music, as Single Cell Productions presents Hazmat at The Garden & Gun Club.

Dance: No worries, the floor won't go ablaze, but you might be startled by sizzling dance moves during performances of Burn The Floor at Belk Theater.

Sat., March 28

Dance: Expect an ultimate dance fiesta as The Carolinas Latin Dance Company presents Dancing Through Latin America, a performance featuring dances from Central America, South America, Spain and the Caribbean. It all goes down at McGlohon Theatre.

Benefit: Do good and drink up at Sirens and Shields, a bachelor and bachelorette auction featuring firefighters, police officers and other heroes at Cans Bar and Canteen. Proceeds from the event will go to the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Art: Feeling artsy? Check out the new art exhibition at Renee George Gallery, which features bronze sculptures by artist Marta Moreu.

Sun., March 29

Theater: Listen to Dixie Longate, the No. 1 Tupperware seller in the United States and Canada babble about the importance of proper food storage and get a good laugh at for Dixie's Tupperware Party at Booth Playhouse.

Spoken Word: Enjoy music and poetry during Lyrically Speaking: The Sunday Session at Utopia Restaurant & Lounge.

Food: Stop in at Aladdin's Eatery for a menu full of Lebanese dishes, including hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh and lots more.
