Duke Energy CEO on 60 minutes

Posted By on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 11:45 AM

How much CO2 does Duke Energy pump into our atmosphere? 100 million tons. That's right 100,000,000 tons; 8 zeros.

He's countered by NASA's James Hansen, who says Rogers' plans are nice but not good enough.

The future of our climate might be summed up in one question: what do we do about coal? Coal generates nearly half the electricity in the United States and the world. But it's the dirtiest fuel of all when it comes to carbon dioxide, or CO2, the leading greenhouse gas.
