A good friend came up with the perfect solution to the swine flu pandemic or at least for the pandemic of media-fueled hysteria over the disease. He pointed out that as of today, there are 131 confirmed cases of swine flu in the United States. (My favorite line about this is still the Daily Show's John Oliver who said the statistics show that "practically no one has swine flu," but I'm repeating myself.) OK, so there are 131 confirmed cases. According to my friend, we can stop the whole thing by simply shooting these sick people. At that point, their deaths would come under the statistics for deaths by gun violence and, as a result, no one would pay attention to them anymore. Now wasn't that easy?
