Observer ignores McClatchy story about Cheney's B.S.

Posted By on Fri, May 22, 2009 at 2:10 PM

The dueling speeches yesterday by President Obama and former VP Dick Cheney over national security, Guantanamo, etc., have received tons of coverage that we don't need to rehash here, but here is something new and after-the-fact to consider: the Charlotte Observer ran Associated Press reports and analyses of the speeches, when their own McClatchy chain offered better journalism (as they usually do). Here

is a link to a great piece by McClatchy writers Jonathan S. Landay and Warren P. Strobel, which rightly pointed out the numerous omissions, truth-stretching, and outright lies told by  Cheney in yesterday's speech.
