The BMW Art Car (Oh la la, that's a colorful automobile ... see picture above) - painted by artist Alexander Calder - was installed in the lobby of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art today. You can see this particular BMW Art Car on display at the museum through May 21.

Here's the deal on the car's history: French race car driver, Hervé Poulain, commissioned American artist Alexander Calder (1898-1976) to paint the BMW 3.0 CSL in 1975. Afterwards, BMW continued to commission artists - including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg and more - to decorate its cars, thus creating what now amounts to a 16 car collection. And we've got one of em' here in the Queen City! How cool is that?
