Artist Graham Carew uses acrylics, permanent markers, household paint aerosols and pretty much anything he can get his hands on to give expression to his canvas works. A native of Ireland, he intermingles his reaction of coming to America with the places, things and people he left behind (in Ireland and in Istanbul, Turkey where he lived for two years). Together his paintings tell a personal story, though you'll have to look closely for camouflaged references — like say, the evil eye dress pattern in the pictured painting above. Carew's Repel No Ghost exhibit opens with a reception at Dialect Design tonight from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
