Selena Beaudry's Bips, Babbles and Screams

Posted By on Fri, Jul 13, 2012 at 9:37 AM

The title of Selena Beaudry's latest exhibit, Bips, Babbles and Screams, at Hidell Brooks Gallery fits the purpose of sounding out the funky art components of piles, collages and paintings it represents. Comparing her works to words, thoughts and sounds, Beaudry makes use of zig zags and shape oddities reminiscent of graffiti goulash.

She has a tendency toward building cut-up pieces of painted paper into intricately layered compositions. They don't scream collage as much as mirage, with bursts of color and brush strokes to keep the eyes poplin'. Opening reception on July 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more on Selena Beaudry and the exhibit, click here. Exhibit continues through Aug. 31. Hidell Brooks Gallery, 1910 South Blvd., Suite 130. 704-334-7302. www.hidellbrooks.com.
