Jerry Sandusky is good for one thing

Reading about the Penn State scandal, in which former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was accused of molesting children over many years, usually makes you feel as good as 50 lashings to the back. It's sad, serious stuff.

But I finally read some good news today.

According to the Charlotte Observer, more victims of sexual abuse are coming forward since the scandal broke, even in Charlotte.

The Washington, D.C.-based Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) has seen a 50 percent increase in people seeking help on its online hotline since Sandusky’s November arrest, said hotline director Jennifer Marsh.

“Any time that this is a leading story in the news, we see an increase,” she said. “But even with the church sex abuse cases, we never saw as much of a spike as we did with this.”

If we can than Sandusky for anything, it's proving that justice can and will be served.
