Local band hoping to purchase Firewater 110 music venue in Rock Hill

When it was recently announced that Firewater 110, a music venue in Rock Hill formerly known as The Money, had shut its doors, one local resident and musician felt there was more she could do than just stand by and watch it happen.

Amanda Caines and her band, Tattermask, have started a campaign on GoFundMe.com to try and purchase the location to help ensure its future as a music venue and not let it be turned into "yet another pizza parlor."

The page, which shows a goal of $65,000, says Tattermask, Inc., plans to take over the club and reopen as Rock Thrill Music Hall, focusing on original music on Friday and Saturday nights in an effort to keep the music scene there alive and kicking.

The hope is that any profits would be reinvested into the club for upgrades so that it becomes a "real destination" for national and regional bands.

"This is a super long-shot, I know, but I can't bear to let it go down without a fight," Caines wrote in an email. "We really feel the need to get the community's support if we're going to do this, so, sadly, we are not going to pursue buying the business if we don't meet our crowd-funding goal."

The deadline to raise the money is Aug. 8.

The Money changed its name to Firewater 110 last year.
