First Drip (4/2/14): City mines servers for Cannon emails, CDC investigates Ebola outbreak in Guinea, more

Things just got even more tense at the Government Center. At the behest of a broad federal government subpoena, the city is asking all employees to turn over emails and other communications that involve former Mayor Patrick Cannon. The city is even mining computer servers to make sure emails aren't deleted.

The CDC has sent a team to investigate an Ebola virus outbreak in Guinea after 122 people got sick and 80 died. "Ebola virus is a rare, highly contagious and often deadly form of hemorrhagic fever - and the current outbreak in Guinea is particularly unusual due to several factors, according to the CDC."

In what has to be the stupidest April Fool's prank ever, a woman was arrested in Spartanburg, S.C., after sending her daughter a text messages about a supposed shooting at a local college. 54-year-old Angela Timmons was arrested and charged with one count of disturbing schools, one count of aggravated in nature breach of peace and two counts of unlawful use of a telephone.

The state Department of Transportation is hearing a proposal today that would tax drivers by the miles they drive, not the gas they use. Because as cars become more fuel efficient, the gas tax will likely decrease.
