A jury found Gary Scott Goins, a former Gaston High wrestling coach, guilty of molesting several of his team's members between 1998 and 2004. Goins' lawyer said he gave his life up to God in 2008 "and changed the way he viewed things and acted." He faces up to 43 years in prison.

PETA has released footage of mistreated cows that produce milk for a Harris Teeter dairy supplier in North Carolina. "The group's investigator Dan Peden said he found a document a few days ago at the Osborne dairy that showed a shipment of milk was headed to Piedmont Milk's bulk tank in Hickory. He said a Piedmont Milk sales rep told them the plant supplies 'milk exclusively to Harris Teeter.'" A Harris Teeter rep says Piedmont is, in fact, a "raw milk supplier" for the chain.

The killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown, an unarmed black man, by police has inflamed racial tension in a small suburb of St. Louis and across the U.S. "By now, what's happening in Ferguson is about so many second-order issues—systemic racism, the militarization of police work, and how citizens can redress grievances, among other things—that it's worth remembering what actually happened here."

Lauren Bacall has died. The actress was 89-years-old.
