Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal in Greeleyville, South Carolina was targeted by the Ku Klux Klan 20 years ago and suspicions arose on social media that the fire could be connected to a string of recent black church fires following a mass shooting at a black church in Charleston and the resulting dialogue regarding the Confederate flag.

The city of Charlotte has reportedly hired a lawyer to help with public relations during the upcoming Randall Kerrick trial. Mark Weaver, the city's new consultant, formerly worked with the U.S. Department of Justice briefing media about police brutality cases.
