Three people were shot at Candi's Cabaret on Statesville Avenue early this morning after an argument inside the strip club erupted into gunfire. Police said one man opened fire following an argument on the patio at Candi's just after 1:30 a.m. The three victims were transported to Carolinas Medical Center by Medic. CMPD said it's an ongoing investigation. (Ryan Pitkin)

A wreck on Highway 73 in Denver this morning did enough damage to power lines that two nearby schools were closed for the day and the busy Lincoln County road is expected to remain closed until this evening. Highway Patrol said an SUV hit an electric pole at about 8 a.m., leaving two schools and about 550 homes without power. No serious injuries were reported. (WBTV Web Staff)

Last night, CMPD announced that they have arrested a man for repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman he had kidnapped while giving her a ride to the airport. Police say the victim had known Charles Fitzgerald Harris, 43, for about two months when she asked him to take her and her son to the airport yesterday morning. On the way to the airport, Harris allegedly pulled over and sexually assaulted the woman at knifepoint. He then drove her to a home on Polk Street in the Greenville neighborhood and continued to sexually assault her. At 7:12 a.m., the woman's son was able to call police, and when they arrived on the scene, officers found Harris holding the woman down in the home. They pulled him off of the woman and arrested him. Harris has been charged with six counts of first-degree rape, 11 counts of first-degree sex offense and two counts of first-degree kidnapping. He was also served unrelated warrants for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. (Ryan Pitkin)

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for making threats that shut down a school he once attended in Newton, North Carolina. Police say Newton-Conover High School was placed on lockdown yesterday afternoon after James Driver allegedly texted multiple students saying he was going to use a gun at the school. Driver bailed out of jail late last night and appeared in court this morning. (Jenna Deery, WSOC)
