Mike Smathers, there have been 204 incidents this year in which someone shot into a home, building or car with people inside. That's compared to 135 of those incidents last year. Just 42 arrests have been made in connection with the incidents that have taken place in 2016. CMPD announced this morning that Crime Stoppers is raising the reward for any information regarding any shootings into occupied properties to $1,000. (Ryan Pitkin, CL)

Police have arrested Glen McQuay Jr., 54, in connection with the murder of a Hickory woman who was found severely burned outside of her home Wednesday morning. The victim, identified as 50-year-old Stephanie Harvey, had been talking on the phone to her housemate as she approached her Ridgeview-area home at around 8 a.m. When the housemate heard Harvey scream, she became concerned and drove home to check on her. That’s when she found Harvey outside of their shared home, badly burned. Harvey was pronounced dead on the scene in what police suspect may be a domestic homicide. (Paul Boyd, WSOC)

A Huntersville woman is facing child abuse and battery charges after a drunken incident at a hotel pool earlier this week in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Roseanna Marie Kiser, 23, was vacationing at the Sheraton Sand Key hotel and allegedly became intoxicated at the hotel’s pool. According to police reports, a young boy at the pool splashed her with water and Kiser retaliated by pouring a bottle of vodka over the boy’s face and into his eyes. Reports say she then pushed the boy into the pool. When police arrived at the scene, she kicked an officer in the groin before being taken into custody. (WBTV Staff)
