Blind Melon returns

If you only know Blind Melon for "No Rain," you really don't know the expanse of their musical abilities.

One of my favorite groups in the mid-90s, the band hit an abrupt halt after the overdose of singer Shannon Hoon.

Now, the band has reformed with a new singer, Travis Warren, and hit the road in early October. They'll stop by Tremont Music Hall at the end of November.

I've got an interview with guitarist Rogers Stevens tomorrow - keep an eye out for the story in Creative Loafing in the coming weeks.

At a recent gig in Chicago, Hoon's 12-year-old daughter joined the band on stage for "No Rain" and my favorite Blind Melon song, "Change." Gives me chills...
