Just a few photos from The Noises 10 concert at the Visulite Theatre on Dec. 29. It was a packed house and a great show. The band gets better every time I see them - it's no surprise they're working with a major label these days (Jive). Expect big things from them in 2008.
As you may (or may not) know, Tuesday is the day for new album releases...
Well, thanks to holidays falling on Tuesday - both Christmas and New Year's - there's not much of anything coming out.
In the meantime, you can go local and check out Lindy Dobbins' CD release this Friday at Evening Muse, and Paleface at the Muse on Jan. 5.
Stratocaster 1:3 Scale Guitar Replica
GMP
The Deal: Limited edition die cast Fender guitar replicas. (12” x 4” x .75”.)
The Good: GMP’s Stratocaster guitar replica fits on your desk without mashing up all your CDs, wrinkling up your sheet music or knocking over that stack of napkins with 30 years of song lyrics you’ve yet to get around to. It’s a collectable you’ll appreciate even if you’re not a musician. The detail is so good that it’s more of a cool toy than a mere display item. Everything but the sound works on this baby: the volume control knobs turn, the position switch moves and the whammy bar swivels as well. Although you can’t actually get a tune out of it, and it does a get a bit cramped on the fretboard for an average set of fingers, you can get the feel of its bigger relative by lightly strumming the strings. It’s enough to make you want to take lessons and get out on stage with the real thing. Meanwhile you can practice your moves in the privacy of your own home, pretending you’re Buddy Holly or Hendrix or Clapton till you get that rock god stance down. The Strat comes in red, black and sunburst colors. A Tele is also available.
The Bad: A bit steep at list price of $79.99 but Amazon.com is offering it for $49.95.
The Verdict: One of the nicest replicas on the market. Built to last and look good all the while.

Illicitizen was robbed!
No. Literally.
Someone or someones broke into our house Monday (12/17) while we were off trying to pay for it at our jobs. We lost some guitars, some a/v equipment. Mostly we are glad that our pets did not get hurt.
Keep an eye out for a Red Fender Telecaster (MIM) S/N MN618068 and a old sunburst finish Kramer Focus bass guitar: s/N: MC22065034.
Last month in Charlotte, Tori Amos stopped her show in the middle of a song to yell at someone. Some say it was a security guard, some say it was people in the front row. Either way, she yelled, "Get the fuck out of my show!" and her bodyguard obliged by escorting them out (around 2:20):

Well, it happened again last night in San Diego. Not sure what happened there either, but she tells two girls, "Get the fuck out of my show. It's a privilege to sit in the front row." Here's the video from last night (event happens around 2:45):

So, is this now becoming a part of Tori's show?
Southern Culture on the Skids is coming back to Charlotte on Friday, Dec. 14.
Here's a quick look at their last time in the QC back in July:

The Internet is buzzing with rumors about Green Day. While the band is said to be working on the followup to "American Idiot," there's a lot of speculation that the band has released six songs under the name Foxboro Hot Tubs.
The singer definitely sounds like Billie Joe Armstrong, but it hasn't been confirmed that it's Green Day - officially....yet.
Take a listen here.
Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood will perform at Charlotte Bobcats Arena on April 18, 2008.

One of the big surprises is that Bruce Springsteen's album isn't on the list for album of the year, despite a lot of love from critics and fans.

You'd think more artists would try and get CDs out this time of year to help people with holiday shopping ideas, but that's not the case.
It's been pretty slow, with about the only noteworthy album released this week being Wyclef Jean's latest, Carnival II. Hopefully, the drought won't last much longer.
