It came from MySpace

I actually heard about this on MTV this morning (weird, eh?):Alt-soul vocalist Res and conscious rapper Talib Kweli have formed a new two-person group called Idle Warship.

Kweli said in an interview on MTV's "Sucker Free" show that the group was created so Res and him could create more dance-floor friendly music.

No CD is slated for release at the moment, but you can hear some of the group's tracks on their MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/idlewarship

Kanye not in Q.C.?

Posted By on Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 4:34 PM

Kanye West was scheduled to perform at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre on May 8 with NERD, Rihanna and Lupe Fiasco, and in Raleigh on May 9.

The new rumor is that he won't be in Charlotte, and only in Raleigh.

A quick look at Kanye's Web site shows that he'll be performing at both places.

Stay tuned...

You should listen first...

Maxim magazine is coming under fire for their review of the new Black Crowes disc, Warpaint.

It's not because the magazine gave the album 2.5 out of 5 stars...it's because they wrote the review without even listening to the album.

The magazine has since apologized to its readers, but really needs to apologize to the Crowes.

Nice job, guys!

Karaoke Idol - Top 10 Men/Women preview

Posted By on Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 11:35 AM

I'm really having a hard time finding any of these guys that stands out from the rest. Sure, David Hernandez did a good job, but will rumors that he's a former male stripper hurt his chances?

Wondering what the women will sing tonight...here's the rumor:

1. Carly Smithson – “Crazy On You” by Heart

2. Syesha Mercado – “Me And Mr. Jones" (changed from Mrs. to Mr.) by Billy Paul

3. Brooke White – “You’re So Vain” by Carly Simon

4. Ramiele Malubay – “Don’t Leave Me This Way” by Thelma Houston

5. Kristy Lee Cook – “You’re No Good” by Linda Ronstadt

6. Amanda Overmyer – “Carry On My Wayward Son” by Kansas

7. Alaina Whitaker – “Hopelessly Devoted To You” by Olivia Newton-John

8. Alexandrea Lushington – “If You Leave Me Now” by Chicago

9. Kady Malloy – “Magic Man” by Heart

10. Asia’h Epperson – "All By Myself" by Celine Dion

Next supergroup?

Posted By on Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 11:25 AM

All these supergroups appear to crawl out of the woodwork — Velvet Revolver, Army of Anyone, etc.

So, could this be the next one?

Angelo Moore of Fishbone, Corey Glover of Living Colour and pFluid of 24-7 Spyz are joining forces... Should be interesting!

American Idol - Women's Top 12

Posted By on Thu, Feb 21, 2008 at 1:51 PM

Last night, the top 12 girls sang and...well...they didn't do much better than the guys.

I wasn't impressed. Even Carly Smithson - the one with all the hype because of her record deal - didn't do well.

I'd say the lone standout from either night was Syesha Mercado. The rest fall into a big pool of "sounds the same" or "boring."

Four of the underachievers will be given the boot tonight.
