Iced Earth Classically tinged metal, where Iron Maiden meets orchestral dirges that in turn spew power metal with soaring vocals and guitars. They are metal legends in their own right, though, with over two decades of recording and touring. Last year's Framing Armageddon is a concept album, which at first listen seems pretentious but the music gets in your skin with anthemic blasters and operatic vocals. Also on the bill: Saviours and Into Eternity. Amos' Southend (Samir Shukla)
Another sign that times are hard.
According to CNN, Ed McMahon will star in two viral rap videos for FreeCreditReport.com, a financial Web site owned by credit bureau Experian.
What we can look forward to:
"When I retired, I was famous," McMahon raps in the video. "I had money and glory/I bought a house for 6 mill/I thought nothing could touch me/Until my credit went south, and debt started to crunch me/Next thing I know, instead of playing gin rummy, I was scrambling just to make ends meet/It wasn't funny."
After being joined by two scantily clad women, McMahon continues: "Got a bump from the media chumps, but that was temporary/Wife with bad credit was scary, so I got wise/I may have fallen, but I got back up/Now I'm back on the attack, like a ninja swinging nunchucks/I told the haters, 'Go on, take a hike'/It's my show now, and I can do what I like.
The big question on everybody's mind: Will he outdo Soulja Boy?
Flogging Molly with Beat Union and The Loved Ones
Amos Southend
Sept. 21, 2008
The Deal: The septet of Celtic-punk rockers known as Flogging Molly caused an energy-filled ruckus during its powerful performance at Amos Southend. Along with them was Birmingham, England-based power-pop punk rockers Beat Union and Philadelphia-based punk group The Loved Ones.
If you haven't already heard, former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM (he was once engaged to Nicole Ritchie) were involved in a plane crash over the weekend that killed four people.
Barker and AM were the only ones to survive, though both suffered bad burns.
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN thats the sound youll hear at the drag race at like, 10 million decibels. The volume is so high you can not only hear it, but feel it. The noise revving from the engine literally rattles your body when youre standing, and vibrates your butt when seated on the bleachers. And it can be heard up to 20 miles away. Its kinda like an extreme sport where everyone gets to feel a bit of the rush.
Last weekend, I bypassed the Panthers game where De-Homme beat Da-Bears and went to the drag. (Our boys are looking good this year, are they not?)
I just got an e-mail talk about last-minute promotion stating that The Offspring, The Bravery and one of the Madden brothers from Good Charlotte Benji will be DJing will all be at Dixie's Tavern on Saturday.

Robert Smith of The Cure is pissed off at his record label and iTunes UK. He isn't being quiet about it either. Read more about why he is angry at Rolling Stone.
It was announced today that MTV's TRL will be leaving the air after 10 years.
Good riddance! The network that has all but abandoned music on television is getting rid of one of their only music shows, but also one of the worst out there.
That's what I like watching screaming teenagers idolize talentless hacks. I'd probably be disappointed if the show ever had good music on it. In this case, it's just another way to get all the garbage off of mainstream media.
See ya, TRL! I won't miss you a bit!
