Here are some thoughts on the Thursday night VIP opening party for Dammit Janet!:
1. The space suits the nightclub just fine. While it didn't evoke memories of Studio 54 as rumored (it's strictly Studio NoDa Warehouse), the venue offers a decent-sized bar, an inviting dance floor, and plenty of tables (and even a couple of sofas) where folks can socialize. There's also a large room in the back (closed off last night), which will serve as a concert area for future shows.
They played two nights at the Neighborhood Theatre last November, and it looks like the Black Crowes are heading back to Charlotte this fall.
A recent post says the Crowes will perform at The Fillmore Charlotte on Sept. 30.
The tour will coincide with the band's next album, a double-disc entitled Before the Frost, Until the Freeze.
Tickets go on sale on June 19, according to LiveNation. Truth & Salvage Co. will open.

Im sorry. I dont mean to sound too critical here. But the term Supergroup has resurfaced and its left me shaking my head. It was announced this week that Chickenfoot is scheduled to perform at the Uptown Amphitheatre in the nearly-complete N.C. Music Factory. Chickenfoot? Yes, Chickenfoot.
Only a group comprised of current and future rock 'n' roll Hall of Famers could get away strike that narrowly escape with such an obnoxious band name. Maybe it was drummer Chad Smiths idea. After all, the name Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smiths primary gig, probably sounded a bit silly before Flea thumped his first bass line or violated his first tube sock.
Regardless, former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, guitar legend Joe Satriani and Smith take the Uptown stage on August 27, united as one. One Chickenfoot, that is. Wait until you see the logo.
They're just finishing up the last details on The Fillmore Charlotte.
