Goodie Mob + B.o.B

Amos' South End

February 14, 2010

The Deal: Legendary Atlanta quartet rock the stage together for the first time in a decade with up-and-comer B.o.B opening things up.

The Good: Bobby Ray got things started and the crowd quickly had to catch up with his energy. His show had a little bit of everything, a capella freestyles, a live band — it was a good representation of his range. I think he made a lot of new fans in Charlotte.

Goodie Mob performed like it was the Source Awards when the Source Awards mattered. It was defnitely dope, in your face and high energy for more than 90 minutes. Getting a Cee-Lo solo + Gnarls Barkley show in the middle wasn't a bad look either.

The crowd seemed to be split on DJ Princess Cut's live remixes of Goodie Mob hits, but I thought they were good. The Pimp C tribute was crazy! The encore with "They Don't Dance No Mo" and "Free" was amazing, they even stuck around to meet and great afterwards.

DJ DR made sure the lull between acts never happened. He had Amos' poppin' like a club for about 30 minutes.

The Bad: It started about 80 minutes late, but that's hip hop. Other than the smell of a fresh dump oozing out of the restrooms into the crowd at one point during the show, there's nothing I can complain about.

The Verdict: Who needs new material when you have so many hits! A great show from a great group. I can only imagine how it'll be once they have a few more shows under their belt and new songs to perform.
