Lady Gaga told fans at a concert on Friday that her new release, Born This Way, would be the greatest album of the decade. To that, I say, "Ease up there, Ms. Kanye..."
Sure, Kanye West often says he's the greatest of all time and lets his ego do the talking, but there are a lot of fans who are sick of his crap, too.
She is quoted as saying, "I promise you I’ll never let you down. And not for nothing, the album’s finished, and it’s fucking really good. ... I promise to give you the greatest album of this decade, just for you.” She added that the new album would be "so much deeper than a wig or lipstick or an outfit, or a fucking meat dress."
Well, let's just wait to hear it before you call it the greatest of the decade. It's great that you say you do so much for your fans, but this is also the same woman who told a Charlotte crowd that she wasn't there for the money, yet still charged $200 a ticket.
Here's a quick rundown of what's new in stores this week:
Bryan Adams Bare Bones
Black Eyed Peas The Beginning
Chrisette Michele Let Freedom Reign
Soulja Boy The DeAndre Way
The New Familiars w/ The Black Lillies
Visulite Theatre
Nov. 26, 2010
The Deal: Charlotte's The New Familiars return home for show at the Visulite along with Knoxville's The Black Lillies.
Black Bear Saloon has changed its name to The Saloon at the N.C. Music Factory. To celebrate, they have a few concerts this week, and have announced their New Year's Eve show.
This week, they'll have live band karaoke on Wednesday, Dec. 1; Joystick on Dec. 3; and Simplified and Heywire on Dec. 4.
On New Year's Eve, Edwin McCain is set to perform — only 300 tickets will be sold. Tickets are $75 each, which includes a buffet, champagne toast and party favors.
Local (Charlotte/Rock Hill) band Elonzo is getting ready to record their sophomore album, but are seeking a little help from their friends to get it done.
They've signed up for a Kickstarter page where they have 30 days to raise $1,000.
While every donation gets a thank you in the album's liner notes, there are also some "prizes" for your donations. $5 gets you a digital copy of the album once it's finished. $10 gets you a digital and a physical copy of the album. $20 gets the above along with a sticker and poster. Donations of $200 or more will get you a performance by Elonzo at your house.
Just another way you can help support local music.
I usually don't expect much on a holiday week, but there's a few big names releasing albums this week. Here's what's hitting stores today:
Jay-Z The Hits Collection
Kesha Cannibal
Nicki Minaj Pink Friday
My Chemical Romance Danger Days
Nine Inch Nails Pretty Hate Machine Re-Mastered
Southern Culture on the Skids Kudzu Ranch
Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
The New Familiars may have a performance this Friday night at the Visulite Theatre, but that didn't stop them from hitting the stage with the Infamous Stringdusters for a cover of The Who's "Baba O'Riley."
Check out the video (and check out the New Familiars on Friday):

There must be some ICP fans out there somewhere — if not, they'd have disappeared a long time ago. Part of the ICP Posse is a rap duo named Twiztid. They're coming to Amos' Southend on Monday, Nov. 29, with Blaze, Miclordz and Sauce Funky and DJ Clan.
Want to go? You can win a pair of tickets by commenting on this post with a valid e-mail and letting us know why you like the duo. We'll e-mail the winners on Wednesday afternoon — tickets will need to be picked up at the Creative Loafing office on Wednesday or Monday.
Good luck!
