Solid Gold Mondays Imagine a scene where the music of Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Chuck Berry and others of the era are alive and well; thats Solid Gold Mondays. Elon Shomaker delves into soul vinyl of the 50s and 60s weekly for a crowd usually 20-30 years younger than the actual music but it comes together smoothly. Drinks specials like $1 PBRs ensure the dance floor is lively before the end of the night. Free. Growlers Pourhouse. www.growlerspourhouse.com. (Mike McCray)
CursiveIts a shame that after a decade and a half of making taut music, rockers Cursive are still not huge. In a fairer musical world they should be all over the radio, swatting aside over-produced, one-hit wannabees plaguing the airwaves. The Omaha-based band pours shuffling jazz vibes that expand into punk-touched, noise-caressed numbers. It may be a confounding blend, but one that makes the listener nod, sway, and want more. With Harvard, Yardwork, and Andy the Doorbum. $12-$15. Tremont Music Hall. www.tremontmusichall.com. (Samir Shukla)
