Posted By on Sun, Mar 6, 2011 at 8:46 AM

Marc Broussard Louisiana crooner’s distinct voice wraps around funk, jazz, and R&B, be they dance numbers or sinewy ballads, with equal panache. His ability to channel old-school soul, while strolling through the unmistakable New Orleans musical alleyways, makes for a dandy date night. Bring your dancing shoes. Broussard has a new album in the works that’s slated for release in June. With openers Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors. $20. Neighborhood Theatre. www.neighborhoodtheatre.com. (Samir Shukla)

Yasmin Levy Preservation is important to Israeli songstress Yasmin Levy. Through music she aims to capture the essence of Ladino (a dying language derived from Judeo-Spanish, which dates back to 15th century Spain). Mixing it with Andalusian Flamenco, she also draws from Middle Eastern influences to produce a passionate arrangement of songs that can be enjoyed whether you understand them or not. Currently on a world-wide tour in support of her latest album, Sentir. Levy will visit the Q.C. for a performance at McGlohon Theatre. $19.50 and up. 7 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org. (Anita Overcash)
