On Sunday, Charlotte has the Coca-Cola 600 for fans of a fast marathon. For those of you craving a marathon of bands that changes more than Darrell Waltrip's tires, Snug Harbor brings the SNUG 600 — a slew of local acts on three different nights.
Six bucks gets you in on Friday night's lineup of the Temperance League; The Beggars; Colossus; and returning for another go at the Snug, Jeremiah & The Howling Owls. Expect distorted guitars and a wide spectrum of rock music.
For a dollar more, Saturday's show brings The Belmont Playboys, Aqualads, Lamb Handler, and Glowing Bordis under the roof, and just like Friday's feature, none of the bands sound alike.
The final Sunday night show has Modern Primitives, metal from The Poontanglers, The Chalkies, and lo-fi duo AM/FM's to round out SNUG 600. This show is $6 and might be the most diverse of the three nights.
Each show starts at 9 p.m., so even if you are race fan, you still have a chance to check out a myriad of bands. Surf rock, freaky folk and garage punk: it's like a convention of rock's genres all from North Carolina-based groups.
