Steve Nieve Band brings diverse set of prog piano tunes tonight (8/27/11)

Steve Nieve Band He’s already had his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ticket punched for his work with Elvis Costello’s Attractions (and now the Imposters), but Nieve has enjoyed a successful career outside that orbit, too. As a sessions gunslinger and touring pianist, he’s played keys for a range of acts as diverse The Neville Brothers, Graham Parker, Squeeze, Burt Bacharach, David Bowie, and French chanteuse (and Depp squeeze) Vanessa Paradis. But he also has a solo output that includes rock records, film scores and even a classical opera. He’s not your typical piano player, obviously, and his songs — tilting more prog than punk — aren’t run-of-the-mill rock, either, though he’s been known to drop a Costello hit or two in his sets. $12.
