ANNUALS It’s a long way from major label-dom and Next Big Thing-ism to a Friday night at Snug, but that’s not a bad thing, per se. Heaped with viral praise after 2006’s debut, Be He Me, and signed to Sony for their follow-up, this Raleigh act got dumped just as speedily when the blogosphere moved on to the next shiny object. And good for Annuals in the long run, as they’re free now to winnow down their melange of bubbly synths, enormous Arcade Fire choruses, Sufjan Stevens folk and occasional Four Tet beats into a more focused and individualistic sound. They’ve been hanging out with wunderkind Triangle producer BJ Burton (Love Language, Megafaun), so that should help. With Lonnie Walker and newly formed locals Hectorina (Dylan Gilbert, Linus Van Pelt). $8. Snug Harbor.
