I was lured up to Buck Wild Ultra Saloon in University by a facebook invite to “Man Show Mondays” that advertised trampoline jumping. Growing up, I would entertain myself for hours with the trampoline I had in my back yard. When I came home from college one summer my mom had gotten rid of it and confessing it was a pain in the ass when she mowed the lawn so she just gave it to the kids up the street that use to always come knock on our door and ask to jump on it.
There I was, 19 years old, knocking on my neighbor’s door, asking a 10-year-old if I can jump on her trampoline. So, I went to Buck Wild in hopes of jumping on a trampoline – I even wore yoga pants so I could do flips. Turns out, the Man Show actually entailed the bartenders jumping on mini-trampolines.
It was a little scary walking in – it’s reminiscent of a haunted castle, the door even looked like a draw bridge. But it was like an a-booze-ment park inside with Cornhole, Beer Pong tables on old whisky barrels, ping-pong ... and a stripper pole.
Check out this neon sign advertisement on the wall ... I called the number for shits and giggles, and it is indeed a bonds place. I also couldn’t help but notice the neon signs above the bathrooms: Cocks and Hens.
There was a random concrete pit that I thought was the haunted looking castle’s pit of death – but it was more like a recycling bin. It was full of trash and bottles that scattered out into the parking lot. Turns out, it was a pit of death — for my tire. I ran over a bottle, which completely deflated and flattened my tire. I kinda want to send Buck Wild the invoice for it.
Considering it’s located in between the Speedway and Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, the live music venue would be the perfect place for some B-grade country singer to perform after a race or show. Just throwing that out there.
Oh, and the bartenders jumping on trampolines are serving up 50-cent drafts on Man Show Mondays, too.
