When David Childers, recipient of countless BOC awards, goes on record saying you’re the best young songwriter in town, then by God, it probably means you’re the best young songwriter in town. So who are we to argue with that? Fast-forward a few years after the fact and Strauss is still at the top of the list for his lyrical storytelling. With an almost aw-shucks-like demeanor, Strauss is able to pen simple yet compelling narratives that draw listeners in close and then keep ’em there. We also happen to really like his songs because they’re as genuine as the songwriter himself.
