Concert to benefit local poor, homeless

A trio of local bands are doing their part to help the homeless during the approaching holiday season. Illcitizen, Kimosabe and Holster will perform at The Evening Muse on Nov. 20 as a benefit for the Urban Ministry Center. The event will begin around 8 p.m.

Instead of charging a cover fee at the door, they're asking for items from the following list: clean towels and wash cloths, liquid laundry detergent, disposable razors, spray deodorant, baby oil, skin lotion, tissues, toothbrushes, bar soap and other unopened, unused items. If you can't bring any of the items, a donation of $5 is requested.

The Urban Ministry Center serves people who are homeless and poor through tangible assistance and a wide variety of support programs, offering many opportunities for volunteer service. For more information, go to www.urbanministrycenter.org.
