Trailer trash in The Blonde, The Brunette and the Vengeful Redhead

Up in Greensboro, you also have just a few more days to catch the regional premiere of Robert Hewitt's The Blonde, The Brunette, and the Vengeful Redhead at Triad Stage. It's a one-woman show starring Kate Goehring -- and a curious assortment of wigs and hats as she portrays five women, a man and a boy. The tale she spins in a round of obliquely connected monologues is one of adultery, jealousy, mistaken identity and manslaughter.

While the obliquity of Hewitt's exposition had some people wondering "what the hell is happening?" at intermission, the play explores the consequences of the redheaded Rhonda's rash vengeance -- against a woman fingered as her husband's lover who turns out to be a complete stranger. Ultimately, we must ponder how the price she pays for her crime measures against the turpitude of the comical dimwits who caused it. Irony slowly piles upon irony as director Eleanor Holdridge deftly transports the action from the playwright's native Australia to North Carolina.

So we learn the truth of what Rhonda's mom advised her before this fatal sequence of events. Don't deal with trailer trash.
