Cheerwine Kreme Filled Doughnuts

Posted By on Wed, Jun 30, 2010 at 11:46 AM

Krispy Kreme debuted their Cheerwine Kreme Filled Doughnuts just in time for the Fourth of July.

The limited edition doughnuts will only be available in North and South Carolina grocery stores, and they're only sticking around for one month.

Creative Loafing received a special delivery of the doughnuts this morning courtesy of Krispy Kreme and we got to try them out.

So what exactly is in them? A pink Cheerwine-flavored "kreme" is piped into a plain donut, glazed with chocolate, and topped with red and white sprinkles.

I'm not a big fan of Cheerwine, so these doughnuts weren't my favorite. It sort of tasted like Robitussin to me.  The aftertaste was pretty bad. A few people in the office said they were nasty, a few said they were amazing. Maybe if you are a Cheerwine fan, you'll like these babies. Check them out for yourself.
