Styled in Madewell

Posted By on Mon, Apr 30, 2012 at 11:33 AM

Inspired by the New Bedford, Massachusetts workwear company founded in 1937, Madewell is a collection of real, honest women's clothes that speak for themselves.

They're not too trendy, not too girly - just cool clothes infused with a modern attitude. It's an edgy take on casual with a few vintage details and a modern twist. Of course, this is the perfect place for stylist Davita "Swatty" Galloway.

As the lead stylist for the Madewell event and one of their favorite bloggers, Davita was on hand this past Sunday to style guests and interact with customers to help them pick out their favorite looks. The guests were shown how to wear the Madewell looks created by the Dupp and Swat team who styled a number of models though out the event.

And what's an event without good food and drinks? Guests also enjoyed a few special treats from Amelie's French Bakery. Now this is what I call a fabulous sip, snack and style event!

Madewell is located in the Belk's wing of SouthPark Mall.

The Edge Beauty Week

Posted By on Sat, Apr 21, 2012 at 9:57 AM

Spring fashion trends are all about mixing and matching bright colors and patterns with classic neutral shades. I like to incorporate these same color schemes when applying my makeup. But, I could definitely use some expert advice. Luckily, The Edge Beauty Shop at Dillard's in Carolina Place Mall is hosting its first beauty week from April 19-29. The event will kick off with the first spring fashion show, Spring Ahead Drenched with Edge on Saturday, April 21.

Products from Too Faced, Napolean, Anastasia, and Paula Dorf will be featured on the models, along with Dillard's fashions to create Spring's Haute Day, Night, and Prom looks for 2012. One woman will be chosen on Friday, April 20 for a free makeover at Saturday's show.

I love bumming style ideas off the runway, but what really sold me on this event are the free gifts with purchase during the beauty week and the hourly giveaways during the day. Also, professional stylists are offering complimentary consultations and tips to all attendees. Paula Dorf's celebrity makeup artist, Edgar, will be on site today.

Every woman deserves to pamper herself with nationally renowned cosmetic products, and the newest spring fashions at Dillard's. Head to The Edge Beauty Shop (second floor) at the Carolina Place Mall Dillard's on Saturday, April 21 at 4 p.m. to claim free giveaways and spice up your style with colors as bright at the summer sun.

Empowering women through fashion

Posted By on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 3:54 PM

As a woman, I like to empower myself by giving back to the community. And, I also love all things fashion. This Saturday, April 21, I get to indulge in my two favorite pastimes at the Passport for Purpose Marketplace at the Reelworks Studios in the NC Music Factory. The Charlotte-headquartered organization, Mothering Across Continents joins fellow Charlotte nonprofit Seeds of Hope and Dining for Women based in Greenville, SC to promote an event that will empower women artisans and benefit the Carolinas-based non-profits.

"This is a unique event for women who increasingly want to look good, feel good, and do good at the same time," says Patricia Shafer, chief catalyst, Mothering Across Continents.

Review: 25 Most Stylish event

Posted By on Tue, Apr 17, 2012 at 5:38 PM

Saturday night, I had the pleasure of attending the 25 Most Stylish event at Butter in the N.C. Music Factory. This fashionable event serves as the kickoff to Style Week Charlotte every year, and this year all of the attendees were able to "party like a rock star."

As a "Hall of Fame" inductee, one of the top 5 of the 25 Most Stylish circa 2010, I enjoyed seeing all of this year's winners come out to show off their best looks. Honestly, I haven't seen so many fashion-forward folks in one room in a very long time, if ever!

Petal turns 4

Posted By on Sat, Apr 7, 2012 at 8:29 AM

Four is a fun age, in my opinion. Of course, I can't actually remember being that age, but my boyfriend's kid is 4 right now, and he's awesome to be around.

Petal Boutique's pretty awesome, too. The women's clothing boutique celebrates four years being in business today with a sale, goodies and more.

Take 20 percent off your entire purchase. The first 10 customers get a Petal Goodie Bag. Spend $50 and be entered to win a gift card from Handpicked Dilworth, Laura James Jewelry, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt and Petal.

Lemonade and cookies from Suarez Bakery will also be available.

Petal opens today at 10 a.m. and is located at 1315 East Blvd.

Holla at my peeps at The Pink Hanger

Red Engine Jeans
  • Red Engine Jeans

It's almost Easter and as we all know, aside from the Easter bunny and kids hunting for dyed eggs, the other two constants we always see are sales and Peeps! I love them both, you love them both and apparently so does the rest of the world. Shoppers spend tons of money shopping for new Easter duds every year and here's a fun fact: Americans buy more than 700 million Marshmallow Peeps each Easter season.

So, wanna know how you can satisfy your sweet tooth AND get fashionable discounts from some other really stylish "peeps"? Stop by The Pink Hanger today and Saturday for your chance to get 10 percent to 50 percent off your purchase of new items. Try your luck by reaching into TPH basket and pull out a peep to see just how good the Easter Bunny will be to you this year.

With such a trendy yet classic selection of tops, bottoms, dresses, denim and accessories, you simply can't go wrong! In fact, I've already spotted a really cute Rachel Pally dress and a pair of Red Engine jeans that would look fabulous on me. Visit The Pink Hanger and grab something for yourself or give another lucky chic a little holiday surprise!

The Pink Hanger is located at 2935 Providence Road.

Just 24 hours left on the RedSky Gallery Easter sale

Posted By on Fri, Apr 6, 2012 at 12:29 PM

Hunting for Easter decor? Hop on over to RedSky Gallery! (Bad puns intended.)

redsky_easter.jpg

In the great tradition of holiday decorating, Halloween and Christmas are the belles of the ball, while everything else suffers a fair amount of snubbing. Give your Easter a whimsical touch with items like the Lori Mitchell figure featured above, selling at 40 percent off from now through Saturday.

While you're there, don't hesitate to indulge yourself with a few "just for me" purchases-all jewelry is currently 15 percent off.
