First Drip (10/3/13): car wreck, Tom Clancy, Mars and more

Eight people, including six from a Statesville church, died in a car accident Wednesday on Interstate 40 east of Knoxville.

From a New York Times story: Because some states are not expanding Medicaid, two-thirds of the poor blacks and single mothers and a majority of the low-wage workers who do not have insurance will not benefit from the new health law.

Author Tom Clancy, known for works including "The Hunt for Red October" and, most recently, "Threat Vector" died on Wednesday. He was 66.
