Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has requested $12.2 million from the county to cover teacher raises. The General Assembly funded some raises, but they weren't the same across the board. New teachers got as much as 18 percent, while more experienced educators received as little as 1 percent.
Attending a high school football practice in Wake County, NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell reiterated that he had not seen the video of former Ravens player Ray Rice hitting his now wife in an elevator until Monday, and that his original punishment was too lenient. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller will investigate the NFL.
During his prime-time speech Wednesday night, President Obama outlined his plan to attack the terrorist group ISIS or ISIL, which includes a month-long bombing attack in Iraq.
If Scotland votes in favor of leaving the U.K., the country's biggest banks and insurance agencies say they will relocate their headquarters to England. The country votes on its independence next week.
