Black Label Society with Sevendust and Dope
Amos Southend
April 19, 2009
The Deal: Heavy metal band Black Label Society headed by front man and metal guitarist extraordinaire Zakk Wylde visit Charlotte for a sold-out performance at Amos Southend, along with Sevendust and Dope.
The Foreign Exchange the Durham-based hip-hop/soul band performed last night at The Double Door Inn to a packed crowd.
The show, which lasted almost two hours was amazing, but who the fuck was the dude who jumped on stage at the beginning of the concert. Rapper/singer Phonte seemed pretty close to kicking the guys ass. And check the photo above, by Jasiatic, to catch a really shocked looked on Nicolay's (the white guy) face.
Local band Simplified has entered the Fender Road Worn competition and is in the Top 25. You can vote for them here.
Good luck guys!
Today's Tweet of the Day on Twitter goes to John Mayer:
Re: 420, I don't smoke pot anymore. I just pay a dude 50 bucks to come over, press lightly on my chest and tell me all my ideas are awesome.
Susan Tedeschi w/ Eric-Scott Guthrie
Neighborhood Theatre
April 17, 2009
The Deal: Blues singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi rocks the 'Hood.
Purgatory 43: Ragnarok
Amos' Southend
April 18, 2009
The Deal: After seven years, Purgatory holds its final event.
The Good: I'd heard all the rumors and rumblings about Purgatory over the last two years since I moved to Charlotte, and finally decided it was time to check it out while I still had a chance. As soon as I set foot inside of Amos', I felt like I was at a more sexually-charged, non-Halloween version of CarnEvil, which I went to last fall. The people watching was fantastic and the majority present were happy to let their freak flag fly women in nothing more than thongs and strategically-placed black tape, plenty of leather, a few ball gags and a few men ... in nothing more than a thong.
