Rap banned at Carnival?

Carnival is swiftly approaching in Brazil and a local mayor in the country is apparently wildin' before it even starts. Reuters reports that Mayor Jose Neto has banned rap and funk music that disrespects authority or incites violence from the festival that traditionally let's anything go, in favor of more traditional Brazilian music like Samba.

The punishment for playing some P-Funk or N.W.A. during Carnival in his town? Try arrest and up to six months in prison, if you refuse to turn it off.

Carvinal is a week long celebration and Brazil's most popular holiday. The party is so big that the government dishes out condoms and runs public service announcements to try and quell the spreads of AIDS.
