Those Darlins, Shovels & Rope, Lamb Handler
Snug Harbor
Jan. 21, 2011
The Deal: Those Darlins kick off latest tour at Snug Harbor, with Shovels & Rope and Charlotte's Lamb Handler in support for sold out show.
Dylan Gilbert & The Overeasy Breakfast Machine has covered Michael Jackson's "I Want You Back" while goofing around in the studio. I kinda like the raw edge he gives it...
There's something new brewing up online Plaza Midwood Community Radio. Found at pmcradio.org, it launched earlier this week and features streaming audio of local music and possibly some live broadcasts and other goodies...
It's in the early stages, so you might get some dead air mixed in. It's mostly just an MP3 player on shuffle and there's no telling who you're listening to sometimes, but the idea is fantastic.
Local musicians such as Bruce Hazel and Justin Faircloth are already talking about doing taped shows, live broadcasts and other possibilities. It also looks like they have some live broadcasting from Snug Harbor planned.
Those with ideas or who want to get involved should e-mail info@pmcradio.org.
Check it out.
STS9 has canceled their upcoming tour, including a scheduled date at The Fillmore Charlotte in March, due to the band's bassist being diagnosed with cancer.
A statement by David Murphy was posted on the band's Web site:
Greetings Family, Friends and Fans, Im writing to share with yall some news Ive received recently. I have just been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor primarily in my sinus cavity (a type of internal skin cancer). It will require extensive surgery followed by a few months long recovery periods. There will be some treatment for the cancer following also but at this time we arent fully aware of what that will entail and at this time we are just focusing on the task at hand which is the surgery.
With this news comes a bit of bad news for our upcoming shows. We will have to cancel all of our upcoming shows in Feb and March in order to fully get after taking care of this little health issue to the fullest, and we will do just that. There is nothing more in the world I love then playing music and sharing it with all of you and we will continue to do it for a long time together and all I ask for is yalls thoughts and prayers during this time of recovery!
We will still be performing in Mexico this weekend before my upcoming surgery, so for yall down there .
Lets do this . Boom!
Well send appropriate updates as we get them through out the process.- Murph
I guess they were trying to get hits for their Web site, but on Wednesday afternoon, Paste Magazine posted a lineup for 2011 Bonnaroo claiming it had been released.
Red flag #1 - there's nothing on the official Web site.
Red flag #2 - looks like the creative design work of a 4th-grader.
Red flag #3 - band names are spelled wrong. Gregg Allman has two g's, not one like the poster says. Tim Reynolds Trio? They would list it as TR3. The list goes on.
Moral of the story - don't post unconfirmed rumors and bullshit.
UPDATE: Paste posted a new item admitting they got "Punk'd."
Iron & Wine will perform at Amos' Southend on April 26, along with The Low Anthem.
