McColl Center for Visual Art

Staff Pick

If friends come to town and I want to show them how uncorporate Charlotte can be, I take them to the very corporate-sounding McColl Center for Visual Art. This place is a piece of what Charlotte aspires to be — international, inventive, unsettling and challenging. Invited Artists-in-Residence and Affiliate Artists are painters, sculptors, jewelry designers, photographers and installation artists who explore issues ranging from our consumer culture and fragile environment to the far inner reaches of exploratory naval gazing. 721 N. Tryon St. 704-332-5535.
