Foggy Ridge Cider Dinner

If you're like most people who really enjoy food, you've probably done your share of wine dinners and beer dinners, but next Monday, Halcyon: Flavors from the Earth will present a different approach to pairing food with libations.

On Nov. 5, the restaurant will join forces with Foggy Ridge Cidery to host its very first cider dinner. The event will be an intimate gathering of food and cider lovers, with five courses paired with Foggy Ridge's best ciders.

The first course will be paired with Mixologist Maggie Rupert's creative take on a side car using hard cider.

Each course features cider carefully selected by Diane Flynt, owner of Foggy Ridge Cidery. Flynt not only makes the cider herself, she also grows the apples. Once the ciders were chosen, Chef Marc Jacksina created a menu where each course would compliment the cider and allow the cider to compliment his dish creations.

A laid-back drink calls for a laid-back dining experience, so participants can expect a casual atmosphere according to Ruppert, who is the brain behind this event.

When asked how she came up with such a unique pairing concept, she replied, "Cider has a certain reputation, but it is a real artisanal craft. Plus, [Foggy Ridge] is a totally woman-run company, so it just seemed like a good fit."

Tickets can still be purchased for the Foggy Ridge Cider Dinner, at a cost of $55 per person, by calling 704-910-0865.
