Miniature Tigers sing sunny indie pop tonight (9/21/11)

Miniature Tigers You can take the indie band out of the West (to Brooklyn, of course), but you definitely don’t want to take the West out of this band. Formed when Charlie Brand and Rick Schaier both lived in L.A. (and later Phoenix), the MTs play a brand of sunny indie pop that pulls judiciously from the NYC/Animal Collective bag of synth tricks but relies more on the West Coast paisley pop whose summer harmonies trace their roots back to Brian Wilson. Toss in some ’60s Kinks playfulness, and you have a promising young indie pop band who, if nothing else, hasn’t forgotten that song-craft matters. With Daniel Francis Doyle, Modern Primitives. $8-$10. Snug Harbor. www.snugrock.com.
