Neon Hitch w/ Jackson Breit, Carmen and Camille, The Last Year
Double Door Inn
Nov. 1, 2014
Hitch played a range of songs — from opener "Gypsy Star" from her 301 to Paradise mixtape to "Fuck You Better," the debut single from her Warner Bros. days, and even "Ass Back Home," the Gym Class Heroes song she was featured on. Hitch was signed to Warner Bros. a few years ago, but her album was shelved. "Yard Sale," her set-closer, is from her upcoming self-released debut, Eleutheromaniac.
Much like the diversity of her songs' backgrounds, Neon Hitch's voice and stage presence are the main focus of her performance. She has plenty of pop sensibility, working in sexuality and a flirtatious attitude that don't take away from her vocal strengths.
Police are looking for the driver who hit a pedestrian near the corner of East 36th Street and The Plaza at around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Luke Hill, guitarist for the band Animals, was walking home from work when he was struck by the car.
A benefit show has already been planned for Hill, who was featured in this year's Lust List, to help with his pending medical bills. According to a GoFundMe page that was set up, Hill suffered a broken arm, fractured ribs and a brain bleed. He underwent brain surgery to relieve pressure and was in a medically induced coma.
The benefit show will take place at 8 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Neighborhood Theatre featuring music by Flagship, Jeremiah Wilde, Warsong, Solis and Animals. A $10 donation is suggested.
UPDATE: Luke is awake and responsive, but in a lot of pain, according to updates on the GoFundMe page.
Proceeds from the Friday night performance by comedian Dave Reinhardt at UpStage NoDa will go to benefit Luke Hill.

* Instead of the usual two song format for musical guests, Saturday Night Live indulged Prince by allowing the musician to perform one eight-minute set featuring four songs — “Clouds,” “Plectrum Electrum,” “Marz” and “Another Love.”
* Roxy Music, which has been inactive for three-and-a-half years, is probably done, says guitarist Phil Manzanera. The influential British art-rock group, which formed in 1971, hasn't put out a new album since 1982, but has toured from time-to-time since 2001.
* Wayne Static, frontman for the electro-metal group Static-X, has died at age 48. Static was set to hit the road with his solo project over the next few months, including a stop at Amos' Southend on Nov. 20. The cause of death has not been released.
