The lineup for the 10th Annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is due at noon tomorrow, so you know those rumor mills are going full speed. Not helping the cause was AC Entertainment's Ashley Capps who sent out a Twitter message last night simply stating, "Holy shit! The line up for #Bonnaroo just went over the top tonight...beyond thrilled. Great line up and some once in a lifetime shows."
With rumors of Arcade Fire as a headliner and the band winning album of the year, I'm guessing that could have sparked his comments. Outside of that you also had a performance by rumored 'Roo attendees Cee-Lo Green and Mumford & Sons. Capps also sent out a Twitter mentioning Esperanza Spalding.
Or perhaps they got some last-minute signings that will make the lineup bigger than he expected. OR, he's just trying to hype his festival in any way that he can.
Other headliner rumors range from Widespread Panic, Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, My Morning Jacket and The Black Keys to anyone from The Rolling Stones or Rage Against the Machine to Radiohead and Eminem. R.E.M. has also been thrown in the mix.
If you look at the recently uploaded videos to Bonnaroo.com, you'll see Widespread Panic, My Morning Jacket, Robert Plant and Primus.
Meanwhile, Radiohead has announced that its new album will be available for download on Saturday...
So, here's the summary of who is expected; we'll see tomorrow who is right or wrong:
Arcade Fire
Widespread Panic
Robert Plant and Band of Joy
My Morning Jacket
Primus
The Black Keys
Florence And the Machine
Big Boi
Gregg Allman
Robyn
Mumford & Sons
Those Darlins
Finally, there has been some kind of confirmation... The Bonnaroo page on Facebook has posted that the lineup will be announced on Feb. 15.
The swirling rumors at this point are that the main acts for Friday are Arcade Fire and My Morning Jacket. Saturday's pre-headliner is The Black Keys. Sunday will feature Robert Plant and the Band of Joy as well as Widespread Panic.
I've heard a variety of rumors for the main Saturday headliner from Eminem and Jay-Z to Rage Against the Machine.
On Feb. 15, we'll know the truth.
Just like last year, the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is slowly giving away clues as to who will be performing at this year's event.
Taking place on June 9-12 in Manchester, Tenn., at this point, I'd say it's a "your guess is as good as mine" when it comes to figuring out who will play.
Clue 1 - A trip to space thwarted by a speckled lad's demise. A watershed moment otherwise.
Clue 2 - Cecilia's dress code: Sheer
Clue 3 - Still up. A month now, maybe two. Don't call the priest, just find my guru.
Clue 4 - A veteran and magistrate, or a character of sorts. A throne one cannot abdicate, of which a crab can make a fort.
Clue 5 - Red, White and blue are all a part of this young palette. A farm heathen disguised among giants, the only Ten I see.
Clue 6 - From one BoRe to another, a war rages amongst champions. We're calling for divine intervention.
Clue 7 - Sun shines on these former nannies; a persistence of sound persists.
Clue 8 - A maudlin pioneer living on the fringe; not one to plateau.
Clue 9 - Stop short of a march with this ruffian. It's a heavier endeavor.
The obvious would be David Bowie and Paul Simon for the first two, but most agree that would be too simple. Some people assume the third is The Strokes. Others include Florence and the Machine, The Veils, Crystal Castles. Daft Punk and Jack White are also popular choices.
Any ideas?
If we use the theory that some bands come back every other year, we could possibly Janelle Monae, White Rabbits, The Low Anthem, Grace Potter, The Decemberists, Cage the Elephant among them.
Meanwhile, it looks like Gregg Allman has confirmed. Other artists that have said they will peform this year include Big Boi, Black Star, Robert Plant and the Band of Joy and Bruce Hornsby.
UPDATE: Fans are getting frustrated.
Rumor has it that Arcade Fire and My Morning Jacket will headline Friday night at Bonnaroo. The rumor mill continues that Robert Plant with Band of Joy and Widespread Panic will headline on Sunday.
In other news, Robyn has announced tour dates that include Bonnaroo.
Personally, I don't think MMJ/AF has quite the drawing power that headliners in years past have had when you compare them to acts like The Police, Pearl Jam, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, Kings of Leon, Metallica, etc. There isn't the same amount of widespread, mainstream recognition. Don't get me wrong, both acts have a rabid fanbase, but how many people would buy tickets based on those headliners alone? I guess they're hoping for a st
Now, if they would just release the official lineup already!

June 13, 2010
Well, I returned to Charlotte late yesterday afternoon, but was working on a total of about 15 hours of sleep in the last four nights, so I apologize for the delay.
A long, hot weekend in Manchester, Tenn., is winding down with the final day of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Ingrid Michaelson will start my day at noon, followed by an opportunity to see Japandroids and Calexico.
I'm looking forward to seeing John Butler Trio at 1:45 p.m. followed by Regina Spektor.
A couple of legends round out the afternoon John Fogerty and Kris Kristofferson.
Phoenix will wrap things up on the smaller main stage and Dave Matthews Band headlines tonight.
Stay tuned!

In some odd way, I think my body is getting used to only three-and-a-half hours of sleep each night... sadly. And I always wondered what I looked like with three days of facial hair growth sadly, much like hot water and indoor plumbing, there are no mirrors around. Anyway - let's get to the music:
Well, we're at the halfway point and it's gonna be another blistering hot day here in Manchester, Tenn. heat index is 100 all weekend.
My day will start off in The Other Tent which turns Latin today, as Bomba Estereo starts it off.
I'd love to see Imelda May, but she's on the other side of the world here, in practical senses, and I just don't think it's possible to walk out to Cafe Where? where she's playing... However, I heard she's playing with Jeff Beck tonight, so I'll have to catch her there.
Jimmy Cliff will bring reggae to the main stage and Charlotte's The Avett Brothers will be making its Which Stage debut.
The Dead Weather at 6 p.m. lead up to an interesting choice at 7 Jeff Beck or Weezer?
Tonight's headliner is Stevie Wonder, who will be followed by Jay-Z.
Late night will feature Clutch, Deadmau5, The Disco Biscuits and Gwar.... yes, Gwar.
