Moe's Southwest Grill stopped by the Creative Loafing office the other day to drop off some of their new Buffalo Chicken Burritos.
The burrito is filled with rice, black beans, grilled chicken, cheese, pico de gallo and lettuce, which is then covered in Moe's Texas Pete spicy buffalo sauce before getting rolled up.
I ate the entire burrito without even feeling a spicy tingle. Compared to the Spicy Chicken Sandwich at Chick-Fil-A, this has extremely mild heat. So for those of you who steer clear of spice, you actually might do ok with this one.
The Buffalo Chicken Burrito, along with other buffalo chicken items (quesadillas and nachos) will be in Moe's stores from now until Oct. 17.
Zink. American Kitchen, which closed at it's Uptown location, is now opening up again mid-September. The restaurant will be relocating to the home of sister restaurant M5 Modern Mediterranean next to SouthPark Mall, which closed three weeks ago.
From the press release:
The space housed the restaurant group's M5 Modern Mediterranean restaurant, which closed three weeks ago due to a problem in the exhaust scrubber system. Tom Sasser , president and owner of Harper's Restaurant Group, said a change was already under consideration before the closing.
The M5 menu had already been under review, with Executive Chef Scott Wallen taking steps to move it in a more casual, mainstream direction. With the unexpected closing of M5, the company took the opportunity to consider all its options and determined that the popular Zink concept with its reinterpretation of American fare was where we wanted to go."

On the south side of the square, the line was out the door during lunch at the newly opened mini Amelies, a French Bakery and Cafe , 330 South Tryon. This is Amelie's second store.
To the north, Cassie Parson, co-owner of Grateful Growers Farm, operator of one of Charlottes favorite food trucks, and one of the most fervent supporters of local foods, will open Harvest Moon Grille in the space now occupied by Monticello Restaurant. The Monticello will close after service on Tuesday, September 7. Ironically when Monticello opened in 1991 it was the first restaurant in Charlotte dedicated to locally sourced foods (and California wines) when restaurateur Pierre Bader and Chef Scott Howell were there. Both left that enterprise in the early 1990s. Howell went on to open several restaurants on the eastern side of the state including Nanas in Durham in 1992. Its all new again.
Myers Park is hot, hot , hot and Im not talking about Montford Drive. In the newly opened Tranquil Court (Selwyn and Colony) Bill Ryan has opened Clean Catch Fish Market. The fin and shell fish is pricey, but pristine and worth it. The selection is not what you will find anywhere else in town walu, opah, bigeyed tuna, barramundi, Malpeque oysters, Hawaiian blue prawn you get the picture. Chef/Fishmonger Graham Giacobbe is on hand to dress and prepare whole fish at no additional expense and will teach you exactly how to cook your catch.
Also in the complex is Mellow Mushroom opening soon. Word on the street is the Pam and Chuck Richards (of Reids Fine Foods) are looking into that area as well. Next door is Mostly Chocolate.com which relocated here from New Jersey where the company was strictly online. This is their first brick and mortar shop. The chocolates are primarily German. Across the street is Yoforia Frozen Yogurt which has a south Charlotte concentration with stores in Myers Park, South Park, and Piper Glen.
The good people at Noodles & Company want to share some food with you.
I have two coupons for a free bowl of noodles, soup or salad at Noodles & Company to give away.
Just email me at priscilla.tsai@cln.com and tell me what your favorite Charlotte dessert is (this for foodie tour research purposes), along with your name and address. Make the subject line: "Noodles!" I'll pick two winners randomly.
