The beauty and power of Horne's vocals is in its angelic softness, similar to that of, say, Alison Krauss or Patty Griffin. There's as much whispering as wailing, harmoniously understated and commanding, which gently pulls you in but captivates you nonetheless. It's a balance accomplished by only a few, yet it seems to come naturally to this Charlotte native. Expect great things from her upcoming album, which is supported by a cast of local notables such as Matt and Justin Faircloth, David Kim, Dustin Hofsess and Chris Walldorf.
