A repeat winner. Members of the nationwide Theatre Communications Group and the National New Play Network, ATC produces the most consistently entertaining slate of adult theater in the Queen City. The work on Stonewall Street is sometimes sheer campy fun, as in
Evil Dead or
Bat Boy. It can also be mainstream, like last season's
The 39 Steps. Or provocative like Rabbit Hole and the world premiere of
Southern Rapture, chronicling Charlotte's infamous
Angels in America debacle of 1996. The best homegrown theater production of 2010, ATC's
Becky's New Car, boasted a cast that once again recalled Charlotte Rep's glory days.
